Bristol actor that rose to fame after his superb performance in Broadchurch and Film Director/Writer Paul Holbrook join Miranda Rae on The Word.
With all 3 of us being from Bristol we ask why the Bristolian accent is still rarely heard on TV, film and radio. Why is it still assocaited with being dum and compare notes on Bristolanisms. We also find out about a great project they are collaborating called Ordinary Joe.

Miranda Rae on Galaxy Radio 101 from 1996

I just came across these clips from when I was a producer/presenter and Head of Specialist Programmes for Galaxy Radio 101FM. We had an audience of 3.5million at this point as broadcasting to South West of England and South Wales. This was at the time when Dance music was still very much underground and Galaxy had the foresight to let us bring it to the masses and we were the station to play "jungle" or now know as Drum and Bass on legal radio, launching the careers of Full Cycle Crew inc Roni Size, Krust, Die, Suv, Dynamite MC and singer Onallee who went on to produce the Mercury Prize winning album New Forms in 1996 the same year these clips are taken from. I will never forget the incredible years I worked for Galaxy, what we did was groundbreaking and my job was the best in the world and I will always be so grateful for such an incredible opportunity to work with and meet so many iconic and talented people!

History was made in Bristol on Sunday 7th March 2020 in response to the brutal killing in America of George Floyd a group of young activists decided enough was enough and under the banner of Black Lives Matter decided to organise a small protest not expecting more than a few hundred people. On the day there were well over 10,000 people.
I managed to collate some of the amazing speeches including the outstanding one by up and coming recording artist Delocx who left me in tears with his passion, Former Bristol poet Laureate Miles Chambars, Dawn Limbu, Jade Royal and her sister Dana with Lawrence Hoo's son reciting his poem Unite plus Jade aka Adjua and if you know any of the others please let me know...it finishes with a poem written and recited by the then 9 year old Tiana Nadine Mclean.
Thank you to contributors Angel Mel and Dawn Limbu for helping compile speeches.
