Check out this weeks episode of The Word in its entirety. Featuring on this weeks show a series of great interviews, kicking of with Bristol Promoter, Tom Paine, the brains behind Love Saves the Day, LSTD who also put on The Downs which this year takes place on Sat 1st Sept starring Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Goldie, Orbital, Channel One and a whole lot more. As an seasoned promoter in Bristol we cover a wealth of topics including what its like to put on a festival in a city, wether Bristol should have a city centre large venue, or should it be on the outskirts. I must give a massive thank you to Ursual Thompsons help on todays show who organised this groundbreaking interview with a guy we will call Mr X as he wished to remain anonymous due to the ridiculous stigma attached with addicts and recovering addicts. Mr X shares his story of how it wasnt until he was in prison that he first became addicted, his 20yr battle with drugs and what it took to stay clean, 20 months clean Mr X now lives in a residential hostel which he fears will be soon closed, getting help with drug addiction in UK is hard enough and staying clean even harder, so to know have to live in fear of being made homeless again is affecting all 100 residents of Wick House in Bristol, thank you to Mr X for is bravery on speaking so honestly and wish him all the best with his recovery. Next guest on the show is Roseanna Dias an independant creative producer promoting events across Bristol at Trinity Community Centre and The Watershed. Our final guest of the show is Ty Reid. Ty is an incredible guy who is raising money for little Jeremy, born in Madagascara with outlegs and only 1 arm his father ran away when he was born and his Mum was labelled cursed so Jeremy was left an orphanage in Madagascar where the wonderful Caroline from Bristol brought him back to the UK. When we met Ty Jeremy couldnt get prosthetic limbs from NHS as not a UK resident, since the campaign that Ty started to raise money this has all changed, find out how Ty managed to change this little boys life. I mustnt forget to say a big thank you to my son who we call TopDog, who at the start of the show speaks very bravely about starting secondary school. There are also some great tracks on the show, kicking off with Brown Paper bag taken from the Mercury Prize winning album New Forms by Reprazent, Goldie Inner City life, Massive Attack - Protection, DRS & EKTO1, Buggsy and the last track was subbited to us at Ujima Radio by a UK based artist called Tileasha who is from Nottingham. If you want to submit music in the hope of having it played on the show simply send your audio file on MP3, mark it clearly and include a short bio.
